Battle LA Movie - E.T. Destroys L.A.

Looks like we have yet another movie depicting a non-benevolent alien species hell bent on destroying Los Angeles. The movie "Skyline" was also based in Los Angeles, and while no background of the invasion was shown, it was implied that Los Angeles was just one of many cities being obliterated in record time. Battle LA has released a couple of intriguing trailers showing what first appear to be meteors, and then seeming to be some sort of weapon released on the unsuspecting residents of tinsel town. Of course the military has its pea shooters ready to beat back the invasion, even though we are about a million years behind in technology. Just hope this tale gives the viewer some background pertaining to the aliens origin, and their motive for our aggressive annihilation.

NASA: Arsenic-eating bacteria suggests extraterrestrial life possible

Arsenic is notoriously poisonous to almost all forms of life. But an organism found in the mud of California's Mono Lake can live and grow entirely off this deadly chemical -- raising hope that similar creatures could exist in even more hostile environments, far from planet Earth.

The new finding, announced Thursday morning 12/2, by scientists at NASA-Ames and Menlo Park's U.S. Geological Survey, describes how a bacterium takes a startling detour from normal metabolism, swapping the common element phosphorus for toxic arsenic, and flourishes.

The discovery of such odd life in our own backyard is a big boost for those searching the skies for extraterrestrials.
